Publisher Description

Here’s sensible advice and caring encouragement on raising boys from the nation’s most trusted parenting authority, Dr. James Dobson.
With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it’s no wonder so many parents and teachers are asking questions about how to bring up boys. Why are so many boys in crisis? What qualities should we be trying to instill in young males? Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, an entire generation of boys is growing up without a clear idea of what it means to be a man.

In the runaway bestseller Bringing Up Boys, Dr. Dobson draws from his experience as a child psychologist and family counselor, as well as extensive research, to offer advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles.

Boys are born broken 👎🏻 don't bother with this book if you have boys

If you like statistics.. this book is for you. It will give you every stat you could dream of as to why your sons are born broken and doomed..

Unless… they are raised in your classical family with a mother and father.

The author has an entire chapter on why being gay is bad and a choice (not arguing the topic.. just pointing out that he’s very closed minded in this area). He makes being gay a gender identity crises and blames it on children not having good father figures in their lives (another way to bash single moms).

His take on single moms was really nice… they apparently have the toughest job ever (while I can agree with that) he also talks about how their children are destined for prison and problems.

This book has extreme traditional views… I picked this book because I really enjoyed reading ‘The New Strong Willed Child’ and thought this one would be equally beneficial.. it is not. It’s a bunch of statistics which basically say that boys are born broken and unless you have a nuclear family-they are doomed. The author informs the readers of all the potential problems with boys (scary statistics and all) without offering much of a solution.. actually in most cases no solution is offered. I’m very disappointed with this book. I will not be reading his other books as I had originally planned after loving The Strong Willed Child.
