Publisher Description
As word of Horus’s treachery spreads to fully half of the Legiones Astartes, Terra looks to the remaining loyalist Space Marines to defend the Imperium. One group, however, remains curiously silent in spite of apparent efforts from both sides to contact them – the noble Vth Legion, Jaghatai Khan’s fearsome White Scars. In the ork-held territory of Chondax, a bitter war has been raging since the Triumph at Ullanor, and only now do the sons of Chogoris return their gaze to the heavens...
A Horus Heresy novella by Chris Wraight.
Customer Reviews
Great Story, high price
The story is amazing as we learn more about the White Scars. Love following them and the suspense of who they side with is unreal.
The cost of this ebook is steep considering the length. Please think about your customers and break even rather than price gouging for stories we love.
Five-star novella, if not for the price
It's a great read, and marks the first time the White Scars are written as more than just Mongols in space. They're very human, with some characteristics that set them apart from most of their brethren. We also get some neat little insights into the nature of the Warp.
It's a must-read to understand the characters in Wraight's follow-up novels Scars and The Path of Heaven, which I wholeheartedly recommend.
However, it's only a novella, too short for this price. Pay the extra $3 for the anthology Legacies of Betrayal, which contains this same story and 18 others. Some of them are truly short stories, just a few pages long, but it justifies its price as well (or as poorly) as any of the better Horus Heresy novels.
Brotherhood of the Storm
Excellent.
