Fun story
This book's primary title is "The Hidden Hand". Most of Mrs. Southworth's stories were so long that it was necessary to divide them into two volumes, so the sequel is "Capitola's Peril"; however, there is none of the usual wrapping up of the story at the end, and it is best to get both of them at once.
It's hilariously funny in spots, but there are parts of strong drama. It was a bestseller over a hundred years ago.
