Good read
Similar to the movie but with a better feel for the gritty off color and sometimes vulgar life of the chain gang prisoner.
Also the book goes deeper into Luke’s war experiences.
Read the book and watch the movie. They both are worth the time.
If you know the movie you will undoubtably picture Paul Newman and George Kennedy as Luke and Dragline. But that will not hurt a thing.
