Cousin Phillis

Paul Manning down from London to a rural Holman farm, and Phillis, already promised. Gaskell’s Cousin Phillis is friendship that becomes love too late, a girl’s health, a visitor who stays. Sovereign ebook. Not a simple triangle. Intelligence in a farmhouse, the city boy, the engagement that was already there. Quiet devastation. Victorian feeling without a melodrama’s shout. A novella of what you notice too slowly, and a cousinhood that will not quite stay cousinly.
