In Hawaii to help run a conference, Thea Kozak is determined to find time to relax--until the conference chairwoman is found dead.
While struggling to keep the conference from descending into chaos, Thea discovers more motives and suspects than she can handle. Throw in hostile local cops, the victim's suspicious husband, and Thea's hopes for trading her business suit for a bikini and some sun are dashed.
But with help from an observant little girl, a too-observant pathologist, and a dear friend, Thea just may come out of this alive.
THE THEA KOZAK MYSTERY SERIES, in order
Chosen for Death
Death in a Funhouse Mirror
Death at the Wheel
An Educated Death
Death in Paradise
Liberty or Death
Death Warmed Over
Education consultant and amateur detective Thea Kozak (An Educated Death, 1997), returns in a yawner set in Hawaii. Kozak, attending an educational conference in Maui, far from her home state of Maine and the embraces of her hunky boyfriend, Detective Andre Lemieux, finds herself reluctantly embroiled in a murder investigation. Conference director Martina Pullman is found dead in her hotel room, dressed in sexy lingerie and strangled with a stocking. Pullman, naturally, had made an enemy of every board member at the conference, not to mention the first wife of her husband, Jeff. When Pullman's assistant Rory Altschuler attempts suicide and when she herself is almost drowned on a scuba expedition, Kozak begins to suspect even those whom she longs to trust. Flora's verbosity fails to flesh out the characters, most of whom are stereotypical and shallow. Beautiful Maui features hardly at all as a backdrop. The one bright spot is 11-year-old Laura Mitchell, Kozak's self-appointed Watson, whose nose for detective work puts her in the path of danger as the murderers use her to get to Kozak.
Death in Paradise
Thea just gets better with every book! Great character building. Loved it!
No rest for the wicked
Amateur detective and professional consultant Thea Kozak is off to paradise for a conference and hopefully some sun. Instead she gets murder and mayhem. I’ve read most all of the books in this series and I find myself at a loss as to how to newly describe how enjoyable they are. It is truly a treat to escape into this world and try and discover the secrets along with Thea. I do hope that you’ll read this and give the series a try. It’s well worth it! For mystery fans or book fans in general this series is a winner! I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
Death Finds Thea Once Again
Death in Paradise, the fifth book in the Thea Kozak Mystery series, is a solid continuation from the previous books in the series. Thea once again finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery. This time it’s the strangulation death of the director of a conference she is attending in “Paradise”. Thea is a strong inquisitive person who always seems to find herself in situations that require her to get involved. But this time around she has an 11 year old partner who is more then happy to help.
The series so far has been very entertaining. I have enjoyed reading it and will definitely continue the series with the next book, Liberty or Death.
