Publisher Description
“A top-notch literary brainteaser.” –New York Times
Soon to be a major motion picture sequel to Murder on the Orient Express with a screenplay by Michael Green, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh alongside Gal Gadot—coming February 11, 2022!
Beloved detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries.
The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life.
Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.
A sweeping mystery of love, jealousy, and betrayal, Death on the Nile is one of Christie’s most legendary and timeless works.
“Death on the Nile is perfect.” —The Guardian
“One of her best. . . . First rate entertainment.” —Kirkus Reviews
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Characters may die, but classic murder mysteries live forever. Agatha Christie’s delightfully twisty 1937 whodunit follows brilliant Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he departs for a much-needed vacation to Cairo. He sets off down the Nile aboard a luxury steamer, but the ship hardly leaves the dock before an unsettling tension sets in among the high-class guests, culminating in a chilling murder. We adored the opulent scene-setting Christie sprinkles into every suspenseful chapter—imitation pearls, squandered inheritances, a falling boulder, and a shotgun wrapped in a velvet stole all have a role to play in this pitch-perfect mystery. But, ultimately, our favorite thing was the beguiling (and potentially guilty) characters. A great introduction to both Agatha Christie and her endearingly egotistical detective hero, Death on the Nile is a timeless joy and one of the finest murder mysteries ever written.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Listeners will recognize narrator David Suchet from his titular role on the long-running British television series Poirot. As such, it comes as no surprise that he delivers a masterful performance, capturing the great detective's Belgian accent and the spirit of Christie's classic mystery. While on a pleasure cruise in Africa, Poirot is called upon to investigate a mysterious murder and catch a killer before he or she can strike again. Suchet effectively transitions between British and American characters, while his portrayal of the obnoxious and often downright emotionally abusive socialite Miss Van Schuyler proves particularly engaging. Listeners discovering Christie's work for the first time may have to adjust an expository style and slower pacing not found in newer incarnations of the mystery genre. And while staying on top of events may sometimes pose a challenge, the entertainment value of this audiobook and importance of preserving Christie's place in the canon of whodunit literature cannot be denied. A Morrow paperback.

Superb
I honestly think that the people who don’t like books like this are idiots who just don’t like to read, but have the guts to say they do. Whoever says this mystery is not ingenious is a fool, and I pity them
Fantastic
A fantastic murder mystery that actually has a main focus on the mystery itself and not everything else
Cruising Up and Down The River
Very elaborate Murder for love. Multiple deaths and some happily ever afters. Not a lot of ‘Egyptian’ atmosphere.
