Jaime long ago gave up the desire to be loved. Now she only needs to be heard.
Jaime Nichols went to law school to find the voice she never had as a child, and her determination to protect girls and women in the path of harm drives her in ways both spoken and unspoken. As Jaime, now a criminal defense attorney, prepares to press charges against someone who wronged her long ago, she must face not only her demons but also the unimaginable forces that protect the powerful man who tore her childhood apart.
Chandler Bolton, a retired veteran, is tasked with helping a young victim who must testify in court—and along with his therapy dog, Aslan, he’s up for the task. When he first meets Jaime, all brains, beauty, and brashness, he can’t help but be intrigued. As Chandler works to break through the wall Jaime has built around herself, the two of them discover that they may have more to offer one another than they ever could have guessed—and that together, they may be able to help this endangered child.
This thrilling installment of the Hidden Justice series explores the healing power of resolution and the weight of words given voice. And as Jaime pursues delayed justice of her own, she unearths eternal truths that will change the course of her life.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Putman skillfully illustrates the individual pain and heartache behind stories of abuse in this captivating third Hidden Justice novel (after Imperfect Justice). Criminal defense attorney Jaime Nichols is finally ready to press charges against the uncle who molested her as a child. But she isn't prepared for the career military man, up for a major promotion, to threaten her in order to avoid a scandal. Facing skepticism and persecution from colleagues and friends for choosing to move forward, Jaime gets pulled into a case involving a young girl who has also been traumatized by abuse. Jaime's neighbor, Chandler Bolton, is a military veteran working with his therapy dog, Aslan, to assist troubled veterans and others in pain. When he's appointed to work with the young girl, he and Jaime must support her as she attempts to give voice to deeply personal traumas a situation Jaime finds it easy to relate to. Putman threads a believable layer of faith into the characters' development and offers spiritual asides that enhance rather than crowd the narrative. This character-driven inspirational thriller is an honest look into the hard work of addressing past harms.

Phenomenal read...
I loved the theme of justice, strength, healing and protection. Putman deals with the childhood trauma of sexual abuse in a realistic, yet healing way. Excellent!
RIVETING!
Delayed Justice (Hidden Justice #3) by Cara Putman is RIVETING! This book may be read as a stand-alone and I actually read it that way. I started it last night and planned to read for several hours because I was “hooked” within the first paragraph. Unfortunately, I fell asleep quickly (only read 2 Chapters) but I finished the book today! I didn’t want to put it down! This story will keep your attention from Paragraph 1 to the Last Sentence! You cannot read this novel and not get emotionally invested.
Putman has created a wonderful group of main characters - a group of young female attorneys that have been friends since their early Law School days, their mentor and a group of potential significant others. Her characters are complex and her descriptions of their personalities make you want to be friends with them as they work to make the world a better place. Also, they seem to be the type of people that others would say, “I see Jesus when I look in your eyes.” The villain is totally despicable as he is a man in a position of power who thinks he can work an angle to get out of any situation. He would have made a good politician!
In this novel, Putman has chosen a topic that no one is comfortable reading/discussing - sexual abuse of a child. However, she handles this topic with care. She shows readers the difference in how confronting a perpetrator at the time of the crime differs from one who waits twenty years (because the Statute Of Limitations hasn’t run out in that state) and why each is a valid choice.
She also covers Military Issues - PTSD, post-deployment reintegration, family counseling and group counseling for Vets and Vet Families. Putman also lets you see the many ways Comfort Dogs are being used to help people with their anxieties.
I was provided an ARC of this book by the Author and the Publisher. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

DELAYED JUSTICE
DELAYED. JUSTICE. by Cara Putman
This is book 3, Childhood abuse, of which the author has portrayed very well, without going in too deep. Showing us the deep trauma, and the emotions they continually battle with. The support of friends that is needed. Being afraid to speak out, and be there for others. Giving us an inside look at the Judicial system we have. This is fast pace, and faith based story that was handled very well by the author. Given ARC by Net Galley and Thomas Nelson for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
