Publisher Description
The breathtaking finale to the USA Today bestselling Cartel trilogy.
People aren't born monsters.
They're made that way.
They're created, fuelled by one singular moment in time when their universe shatters.
I'd been with Dornan Ross for the better part of a decade. Slept in his bed, sewn up his wounds, tasted his blood, seen inside his soul.
But even I wasn't prepared for what he did.
I should have known it would always come down to this, from the very moment I laid eyes on him in that motel.
I should have known his salvation was too good to be true.
Because it's all gone now, the impossible love I had for him bleeding away in the darkness that came afterward.
Now there's only hate.
Now I just want to escape.
Even if it means I have to kill him to be free.
Before the Gypsy Brothers series there was the Cartel -- from USA Today bestselling author Lili St Germain.

Love this series
I was generously given an ARC. I started the Cartel series from the beginning so when it came to the Empire book, I had to skim and reread the other 2 just so I could have the continuity. This is definitely an edge of your seat story esp since I have not read the Gypsy Brothers series. From what I gathered, Dornan is the villain in the Gypsy series but in the Cartel series the reader gets to experience his evolution into this villain. And since I didn't read the other series, Mariana and John's story was a surprise. Mariana is such a strong character and I feel for her.......and I definitely feel for John, talk about being trapped! I was really conflicted about Dornan.....but Emilio...he was evil personified! This series has a it all and I can't wait to start the Gypsy series!
? 3 or 4 stars
This was 3rd & final book in the Cartel trilogy (thank goodness). I decided on 3 stars for a couple of reasons- first is because I hated it & second because I think it shouldn’t be in the “Romance” genre- more like a horror. In my review on the 1st book I wrote that it wasn’t the “darkest” mafia type story I’d read, but now that I’ve read all 3 in series I can say this is the darkest I’ve read. I’m not a fan of horror- but if u like delving into the depraved, psychotic, violent side of humanity, & are ok with just a (questionable) whisper of a HEA then you’ll probably like this series. It is well written & tension-filled- just don’t expect any warm fuzzy feelings.
