Spanning a century and three continents, Even in Darkness tells the story of Kläre Kohler, whose early years as a beloved daughter of a prosperous German-Jewish family hardly anticipate the harrowing life she faces as an adult- a saga of family, lovers, two world wars, a concentration camp, and sacrifice. Based on a true story, Even in Darkness highlights Klare’s reinvention as she faces the destruction of life as she knew it, and traces her path to survival, wisdom, and unexpected love.

A rare gift
The reading of this book has been such a gift. The author addresses the lives of those caught in a hate-filled era in Europe during the silent seeping of Hitler which exploded into a horror of rage. But in that horror were lives lived with grace, faith, and kindness in the midst of terror. There is a depth of spirit to this novel that compels me to read it again, something so rarely done. I look for more from this gifted author.
Outstanding!!!
This book is an outstanding work, especially from a first time author! So well-written with raw emotions so clearly described. Historically placed in a terrible period of time which must never be foprgotten or ignored. The story evolves and holds a reader’s interest throughout. The emotions so keenly described makes a person feel involved in the story. A well-written work of fiction worth every minute of time spent reading it. Strongly recommend to everyone!
