Loved it!
I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Cocktails and Books.
EVERY DARK CORNER is an action packed, intriguing story full of suspense, and romance. It’s an incredible, thrilling ride and it had me staying up all night to find out what would happen next. This story is about human trafficking and child pornography and the subject matter can be difficult to read. FBI agents are trying to find the man who is responsible for taking advantage of young children. It is a heartbreaking story about innocent children caught up in a sociopath’s net. It is interesting to see the process the FBI goes through to catch an unbelievably cruel and vicious killer. He preys on children and thinks he can outsmart everyone, including the FBI. Everyone working in the case is working nonstop trying to catch this dangerous man before he hurts anyone else.
Along with all the intrigue and suspense, a romance sparks between special agent Griffin “Decker” Davenport and special agent Kate Coppola when they meet while working on the case. They each have demons they are trying to deal with and they each have their own reasons for working with FBI. They have seen so much while working for the FBI and it has changed them. The romance between them builds slowly as they work on the case together. Over time, they are able to open up to each other and share their dark pasts and help each other heal.
Kate is smart, emotionally scarred, driven and she has ninja skills that impress everyone, especially Decker. Decker is confident and not intimidated by Kate, in fact, it makes him like her even more. He has been undercover for three years trying to find evidence to put human traffickers behind bars and is still recovering from gunshot wounds. He has never known love and didn't think he ever would have it in his life, until he meets Kate. I enjoyed the banter between Decker and Kate and it lightened the heaviness of the story. This is an emotional and sometimes gut wrenching story with unforgettable characters and a gripping plot and thankfully, there are some light and funny moments, too. I only had a small only issue with with the book and that was trying to remember all the characters included in this story. It is told from alternating POVs, so we know what the two main characters are are thinking and feeling.
