This story grabbed my attention from the start and held it as I wondered how David would cope with being alone when he most needed support and encouragement. Just when I thought the story was beginning to unfold, boom, end of story. This short story could be the start of a novel, even a short series of novels based on the relationship between David and his nemesis, Carl.
