Farewell to Night

It was dark. That night was solid darkness. Lurking was the destiny of a people, mine inclusive. Death was about to unfold in this place, once an epitome of centuries of tranquility. Human sensibilities offended now poised to elicit retribution. But anger unmanaged waited catastrophe. With these acts interplaying that night, two men soon set out on different paths: one escaped the lethargy of a defeated culture and the other was a victim of an unwilling obeisance to a new authority. The convergence of their destinies in the future was an entirely new realization. This realization manifested in the inevitability of sacrifice for progress and hope. And perhaps, hope itself is a good strategy but only in decades can its manifestation elicit appreciation. This is the journey, the true origins of the journey. History alone will reserve the honor to absolve or to condemn it. Man is but an observing effigy of self, useless self. Those two men linked only through the umbilical cord of tribe only met through our embodiment and manifestation.
