From New York Times bestselling author Tosca Lee comes the much-anticipated, high-speed sequel to The Progeny.
Face-to-face with her past, Audra Ellison now knows the secret she gave up everything—including her memory—to protect. A secret made vulnerable by her rediscovery, and so powerful neither the Historian nor the traitor Prince Nikola will ever let her live to keep it.
With Luka in the Historian’s custody and the clock ticking down on his life, Audra only has one impossible chance: find and kill the Historian and end the centuries old war between the Progeny and Scions at last—all while running from the law and struggling to control her growing powers.
With the help of a heretic monk and her Progeny friends Claudia, Piotrek, and Jester, Audra will risk all she holds dear in a final bid to save them all and put her powers to the ultimate test. Love, action, and stunning revelation reign in this thrilling conclusion to The Progeny.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Lee's The Progeny (2016), a paranormal thriller, depicted a dystopian society built on ancient secrets, myths, and betrayal. This confusing sequel continues the adventures of Audra Ellison, who in the previous book woke up in a Maine cabin "with no memory of the last two years or any pertinent details of life before" and is now at a monastery on an island off Croatia. Audra is a descendent of Elizabeth Bathory (aka the Blood Countess), the world's most prolific female serial killer, and a member of the Progeny (aka the Utod family). The rival Scions of the Dispossessed want to destroy Audra and the baby she has in hiding because of her unique powers: Audra and her daughter have the ability to change the minds of others. Meanwhile, Audra is seeking her murderous enemy, the Historian, in hopes of ending the centuries-old war between the Progeny and the Scions. The jumbled plot and superficial characters seem drawn from a video game. Agents: Dan Raines and Meredith Smith, Creative Trust Ventures.

BUY THIS BOOK
Having been a fan of Tosca's for years now, I can easily say she makes it easy to be one. With each book she cements my admiration and respect for her as a writer and storyteller.
Firstborn is as fast paced as its predecessor, Prodigy, but really is another story that can stand on its own without feeling like a necessary companion to the first. The rich fabric of this underground world that has existed for centuries is woven seamlessly throughout the plot, and is as much a character as the main ones. The dialogue and expressions of the main and side characters are developed, quick, witty, and paced fast enough to draw you in but not so fast that it removes their depth. This fictional world Tosca has created of the descendants of Elizabeth Bathory creates a writing universe into itself, and one in which there are MANY more stories to tell.

Kept me guessing to the last page!
Tosca Lee is a master storyteller who weaves a labyrinth of twists and turns that'll leave you wishing to go back to the first page and read it all over again. Could not have loved it more! Thanks again Tosca for another lovely addition to my library.
A Great Conclusion
What a great read and well worth the wait. Full of twists and turns.
I sat down with the intent of slowly indulging in this book, instead I devoured it. Despite my plans I stayed up reading until the end. The thought that is put into her books (and the thoughts they provoke) are one of the reasons that I so very much enjoy the novels that Tosca has written.
