Fleeing the Light

Mink is a young 13-year-old farm girl who attends a school dance one night and meets, Anatolie, a new boy in her village. Little does she know that later when they are kissing in the loft of Anatolie's barn that he will bite her on the neck and turn her into a vampire. She only realizes the horror of being a vampire when she is combing her hair in a mirror as he faces disappears before her. In the morning, the shutters to her room closed, she tells her mother that she is ill and cannot go to school today. Once Mink realizes that she is a vampire she decides to get revenge on the boys who tease her and call her names at school. And so, when night falls, she sneaks out of her room to get her revenge on them. What horrifies Mink is that she is a kind, sweet young woman and being a vampire goes against her humanity. In the end, she decides to end her life like the vampire fables.
