Publisher Description
Born in shame. Cast from society. Shape Shifter/Elf hybrid, Forest must fight for any respect she can get. Targeted in her youth by a vampire noble who placed an illegal slave mark on her, she is forced to obey him, no matter what.
Slipping the grip of her master and abandoning the prejudice of Regia, her native world, Forest takes a job on Earth, guarding the portal, using her skills as a warrior to enforce Regia's laws. Now, called home for a black ops mission, Forest must put aside her own prejudice to transport the vampire prince, Syrus, through enemy territory in a time of war.
Prince Syrus, mage and master of the Blood Kata, wants Forest more than he's ever wanted anything. In spite of their mutual mistrust, their attraction cannot be denied. Through the danger of their mission, and the secrets they both keep, it doesn't matter what they feel. Forest is forbidden.

Great
Love it
Pop culture reference with a great storyline
I couldn't put it down. I just had to know what would happen to Syrus and Forest.
It begins slow of course, and in Chapter 2 is where I notice something very distracting. I'm not sure if it's the version I got from iBooks, but there are two variations of Kendel's name. It starts out as "Kindel" but switches immediately to "Kendel"
After the battle of the "Kendel vs. Kindel", which went on throughout the second chapter, Kendel won hands down. Never saw Kindel again.
There are a lot of pop culture references along the way. Some I got and some I didn't. Angry Birds was the first. "Really? Should there be such a reference?" was my immediate reaction. These references were more distracting from mood and flow of the story too much.
The next would be a "Flash" reference. "Really? Please no!" is what I thought (and screamed).
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reference was surprisingly funny. I was hoping, praying, wishing, and crossing my finger there would be no Twilight references.
My heart sunk and I almost fell on the floor when I read the line. I cried inside and out. I screamed. I kicked my feet against the couch. After my temper tantrum, I continue reading. I still felt violated and betrayed!
Okay, done with all the negative pokes and prods. Positives and excitement!
The story line is captivating! You cannot help, but keep reading! It draws you in closer and closer. I couldn't place my phone down when I got home. I wanted to keep reading. I was like, "I'm finishing this tonight. There is no way I'd be able to sleep."
Now, the second book is kind of intimidating. I'm absolutely scared, frighten, anxious, curious, and dying to find out what happens next! I'm just scared something will happen that I don't want to happen. The characters are amazing! Must read!
