What can I say?
Another "can't put down" excellent piece of work. Fast moving while holding all the characters together. Different and your favorite at the same time! Read them all!
Forged in Blood Part I
The author over explains events to the point where it feels like they’re constantly trying to defend the feats/actions their characters are accomplishing when there’s no need to. This book could also use more proofreading, and I do not like needing to read outside the series in order to understand everything.
While I’m glad that the author finally attempts to address Amaranthe’s trauma, it feels reluctantly so. They’re still not taking the time to fully illustrate the magnitude of what she’s experiencing. It’s one thing if someone IRL doesn’t want to share their story, but this is a character who’s shoes we’re supposed to be stepping into, and yet the author skirts around it.
Sicarius shouldn’t be surprised at being detected when the shaman in book 2 found him easily enough, and there shouldn’t be any pus on the burned body since the fire should’ve disinfected everything.
Vocab list this time: obstreperous instead of unruly, vociferous instead of insistent, funambulation instead of tightrope walking, ablutions instead of rituals, senescence instead of aging.
What an ending!
Fast paced, with interesting developments and character growth. As usual, Lindsay Burker delights! Now on to the next one before I lose my mind!
