Forgotten

Have you ever startled awake and felt like your chest was about to explode? Have you felt the fear, the panic, the whole terror of someone chasing you with intent to kill, but when you awoke, there was absolutely nothing there that should have made you feel that way?

I awoke with that exact feeling. I was lying on the beach on a large beach towel. No one else was around and the sun was beginning to set. I felt strange. I was disoriented and the more I tried to focus, the more my head banged like a throbbing abscessed tooth. What the crap? I closed my eyes tightly and tried to think. Thinking hurt. Where am I? Who did I come to the beach with? What beach? Then I had this total panicked feeling…WHO AM I? I rolled over onto my hands and knees and waited until the world quit spinning and then I slowly got to my feet and looked around.
