Publisher Description
From the author of the instant New York Times bestseller Survivors, comes its follow-up: another lightening-paced thriller about survival in America after an apocalyptic socioeconomic crash.
The world as we know it is gone.
It’s the near future, and thanks to a perfect storm of reckless banking practices, hyperinflation, a stock market gone mad, and the negligence of our elected officials, the entire social, political, and economic infrastructure of America has collapsed. Chaos reigns in the streets, medical treatment is no longer available, and a silent coup has placed a dangerous group of men at the helm of a false government. America’s fate is in the hands of those few individuals who have the survival skills, the faith, and the forethought to return this country to the state its founding fathers intended.

Good overall
Entertaining and well thought out
A convenient ending
I really felt the first book in this contemporaneous series (Patriots) was, at times, heavy on technical details and instruction for the reader, using the character and story to help show how or why a technique or list of equipment is useful. The second book (Survivors) followed this pattern a bit loosely, building a larger and more elaborate story which was equally interesting as the first book, and almost as informative. This time, in Founders, Rawles seems to shift much further from using a story to give instruction or rationale, and is now in full story telling mode. The only problem is the story is not really new. This book simply fills in details of many of the story lines and details initially presented in Patriots and Survivors. Sure, there are new characters scattered around, but this is really just a convenient way to wrap up the storyline. I appreciate the effort, but was hoping for more.
