Bob Barker looked at the peculiar book in his hands and felt irritable.
He walked over to the window and reflected on his hilly surroundings. He had always loved snooty Falmouth with its spilt, substantial swamps. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel irritable.
Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Mary Meadows. Mary was an intelligent rover with brown moles and skinny ankles.
