A complicated second chance
Four and a half stars
Game Plan by Amy Aislin is the first in her new Vancouver Orcas m/m hockey series. Coach Matt Shore and Pierce Langley-Brown have history. And when Pierce‘s son ends up traded to the Orcas, Matt and Pierce suddenly also have a very complicated second chance.
Amy Aislin’s story is well written and hard to put down. Pierce and Matt are well matched but a family emergency sent Pierce spiraling and broke both their hearts. Finding their way through forgiveness and reconciliation is a very real challenge, as is navigating the minefield of opening up about their renewed relationship with those who know and love them best and also with those who feel as if they’re stakeholders. Ms Aislin’s writing balances the excitement of this AHL team’s season with Matt and Pierce’s more personal concerns.
A great read, and I’m eagerly awaiting the rest of the series!
