Gathering Water Gathering Water

Publisher Description

“Her name was Gabriella Deare, and she was from North Carolina. There are some things that go to you.”

Jane Doe.

It was all Della ever knew of her mother.

No family to tie her to.

No identification.

Then, on her eighteenth birthday, Della’s life was flipped upside down by one thin, manila folder. Growing up in the foster system, she never really had anything to call her own, not even a last name revealing any real association to anyone. Now, the truth was exposed, but there was still so much she didn’t know.

Hoping to learn more about the mother she never knew, and maybe discover a bit more about herself along the way, Della travels across the country seeking answers—and finds far more than she bargained for.

An unimaginable world—one on the brink of war—is pulling her in, and making her claim a birthright she never knew she wanted.

There’s a storm brewing on the horizon, and as the pressure builds, it will take everything Della has not to drown in a destiny she didn’t choose.

Who would have thought...

It’s truly hard to explain how much this book resonates with my current need for good story telling.
While, there are a few scenes, explanations, or timelines I felt were rushed in comparison to their obvious relevance to the story; overall I have very little in terms of negatives.
The MC (main character) is strong. Stronger than even the story gives her credit for in both in the physical and mental sense but that strength isn’t unfounded. She certainly has reason to be strong and doesn’t deny how she got there and the pain and weakness those experiences bring her.
In terms of a backstory the MC may have an overused trope, but in terms of realism it matches perfectly with the story.
The supporting characters are truly a joy to see the MC interact with. Such perfect foils and support.
The love interest is oh so lovable and endearing I can’t get enough.
The story also has an amazing since of new, twist, and discovery that was perfectly left out in the synopsis.
I would recommend this book for everyone, everyday, every time.

Thank you

This book brought me into your world for Della. It was such an awesome read. I have to continue to read the next book.

Gathering Water

I won’t rate this book because I didn’t finish reading it, so it wouldn’t be fair to the book or author. If you are a fan of science fiction it might be your cup of tea. I thought it was about a young girl who was orphaned at birth and raised in the foster care system who had no idea she had any family whatsoever. That’s how the story began, but turned into her having powers she had no idea she had. Anyway, I am too old to appreciate that kind of story.
