Description de l’éditeur
When my ex-wife walked out our door, she didn't just take her belongings with her, she took my heart.
I was pretty sure it would never work again, but that was before my sister's best friend showed up at my door. Beaten. In need of serious help. And my sister sent Emmersyn to me, knowing I'd do whatever I could.
Except doing whatever I can means getting married. Again.
We both know the score though, which means Emmersyn knows I'll never love her. I can help protect her and our marriage secures her inheritance, but love? I've already ruined one woman. I refuse to hurt another.
We say I do, and almost immediately I realize spending this much time around Emmersyn will be my downfall.
I might be breaking my promise to her already.
Turns out, when it comes to love and women, I'm wrong about a lot of things.

Love Kane and Emmersyn
Happy to be back on the ice with the Vipers! I loved this fake marriage/best friend's brother story, featuring Kane and Emmersyn. This man may be borderline grumpy, given how he's been so withdrawn since the end of his marriage three years ago, but he's definitely one of the good guys! A solid teammate and friend, he wades right in to help his little sister's best friend as she leaves a dangerous and unstable situation with her own ex. Emmersyn has been hurt badly but she is not broken, so I was pleased that she was a fighter. With no family behind her, Kane and Heather have her back, and that alone made me love them. But add in Heather's irrepressible personality and Kane's protective one, and the Andrews siblings became series favorites for me. And Emmersyn is as sweet as they come. One of the best reasons to read series books...the secondary characters that have been woven throughout the stories. The Viper players and their partners are back again in this book, funny and charming as ever. The chemistry between our leads is scorching. But here's my complaint. While I'm all about female characters being written in all shapes and sizes, I take issue with one that is characterized as heavier when she's still smaller than the national average (in the U.S. at least). The mention is made that Emmersyn is a size 10. And yes, while any size can be curvy, the constant mention of it, outside of her own worry, annoyed me. I don't think she was suffering from body dysmorphia; just normal body worry that most women go through. Maybe is she did suffer from that, it wouldn't have triggered me. So that's my soap box moment. I loved the twists; one I saw coming, although maybe not THAT way and one I didn't....and that one inflamed me. LOL, I seem to yell at fictional characters way more than I thought I did! Stacey Lynn is a favorite author for this reader, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.
More Vipers!!
I am completely obsessed with series!! I am a hardcore Vipers fan!!
Kane and Emmersyn have had such a rough go of it before meeting each other but they came into each other's lives at just the right time to make the most change. Their backgrounds are heartbreaking but their present and future are anything but.
Every book in this series leaves me feeling impatient for the next but they are always worth the wait.
Love these characters
What a fun story. Kane is the sweetest man- I always love a man who is so protective and loving to both his sister and to women as a whole. And he took protecting Emmersyn to a whole 'nother level, which was swoony. I loved that there was the whole conflict with Emmersyn's ex, who actually beat her and the way his team stepped up really made me a huge fan of the series as a whole (not that I am not as it is because this is a great series of fantastic men and the women they adore). A beautifully written fake romance that goes deeper because of what Emmersyn has to deal with. If you love a strong, loving, supportive man, Kane and Emmersyn's romance is perfect escape to take you away for a few hours!
