A mother and daughter’s secrets could prove fatal in this gripping thriller. Ruth Sterling and her daughter, Catherine, have always been close. Ruth, a hardworking waitress, and Catherine, an up-and-coming nurse, are all each other has ever had. But as Catherine prepares to leave Ruth for an exciting new job, she realizes that her mother is undermining her decision, and her search for the reason why leaves her questioning everything she thinks she knows about her—putting them both in danger. This fascinating, twisty story is unraveled with a deft hand by author Sarah Pekkanen, and we read with breathless anticipation as Ruth and Catherine circle each other, getting closer to the truth and to the inevitable showdown that will come with it. Could not finish
This book reads like a bad lifetime movie. The plot is absolutely ludicrous, and very hard to believe. The writing could use some work as well, some chapters are far too long with a lot of word vomit, pointless details and inner monologues that does not drive the story forward.
