Love this book so far. Challenging and plain and simple. Perfect read for Christians in today's time.
Life-Changing Read!
John Bevere has always been one of my favorite authors because he's very straightforward and brings life-changing revelation. This book is no exception! John exposes the fact that there are things in life, even in the church and amongst believers, that can seem good but are not of God. One quote from the book that really ministered to me was this: "There is a counterfeit good that can keep you from embracing God's best." John exposes the fact that the devil can try to bring harm and destruction to our lives masked as something good. Even in some cases, there can be a difference between what is good and what is God's best. I think the next quote is a perfect summary for what the book is about: "It doesn't matter how good something looks, how happy it makes you, how much fun it is, how rich and successful you'll become, how deeply spiritual it appears, how sensible it seems, how popular or accepted it is...If something is contrary to the wisdom (or Word) of God, it will ultimately be detrimental and bring sorrow to your life." I highly recommend this book. Please do yourself a favor and read it!
Life Changing Word
This is a word the church needs. Bevere effectively spells out the difference between God and good. And backs up with scriptural evidence and great stories that explain how we get trapped in choosing good over God. He closes with practical advice and encouragement to guide us into making God decisions. He is unashamed and bold as he calls out believers, the church, and church leaders to really consider how we have been deceived and are contributing to the deception of others. It encouraged me to really check myself and rethink and discern the decisions I make. Not everything that is good, is God.
