Most Excellent
This is one of the keepers. Ruis’ story begins in Heartmate when he steals the Heartgift made by T’Ash. As a non magical person Ruis has been summarily excluded from Celtic society and most importantly his family. He suffered extreme abuse at the hands of his Uncle Bucus; who has done everything in his power to kill Ruis all to protect a secret. Ailim is a SupremeJudge trying to keep her family together. Her family’s finances are in ruins and they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
Anyone who has suffered physical abuse needs to be wary of potential triggers. That said, it is a wonderful tale of love enduring all, goodness triumphant over evil. As well as a cautionary tale about our societal responsibility to those on the margins, those with the least, and those who are different.
