Heart's Desire

Kim Mandelson lives simply and steadily: pray, serve on the church media desk, then hurry to the college studio where her student film is almost ready to breathe. Her life is ordered, devotional, and quietly ambitious—until Derrick, a courteous newcomer, notices her diligence.

At first it's harmless: a thank-you in the foyer, a friendly message, a Scripture quote. Then the tone shifts. Language like "alignment," "agreement," and "kingdom pairing" tries to hurry Kim past peace. She answers with clarity: no peace, no steps—public conversations only, daytime replies, and ministry questions routed through leadership. Some applaud her wisdom. Others whisper. And one corridor moment draws a hard line—swiftly interrupted by a loyal friend—after which church leadership raises guardrails and Kim chooses to rest and heal.

With her parents, Pastor Harry, her best friend Marianne and her brother Gabriel, and her studio partner Dwayne standing close, Kim learns the difference between fear and discernment, forgiveness and access, attention and love. As her short film is submitted, screened, and opens an invitation at a faith-friendly studio, she discovers that purpose is not found in noise but in surrender. The dream that began as frames and storyboards becomes a calling shaped by wisdom, safety, and joy.
