Mind Game

Mind Game by Chiamaka Faith shines a light on a hidden reality: how manipulation can disguise itself as love, and how even spaces of faith can be touched by the distortion of self-worship.

Clara and Daniel Bennett learned early that worth is something you earn — by being quiet, agreeable, strong, or perfect. As they grow into adulthood, these quiet lessons leave them vulnerable. Daniel is drawn to Lydia: a celebrated, gifted worshipper admired by many, but whose charm masks a controlling nature that demands he put her needs above his own. Clara finds herself with Ethan, whose kindness slowly turns into dominance, leaving her constantly questioning her own perceptions.

Even within their church community, the same pattern repeats: talent and status often overshadow character, and the pressure to "keep the peace" allows harmful behavior to go unchallenged.

More than a story of difficult relationships, Mind Game explores both the psychological and spiritual roots of narcissism — the belief that "I am the center, and everyone exists to serve me." It follows their journey of awakening: learning to recognize the subtle signs of control, unlearning the lies that say they must shrink to be loved, and discovering that true freedom comes from embracing the truth of their inherent worth.

For anyone who has ever felt unseen, confused, or like they have to shrink themselves to be accepted, this book offers hope. It reminds us that the greatest deception happens in the mind — and the game ends the moment you choose to believe you are worthy, exactly as you are.
