About the Author
Randy Alcorn is an author and the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries, a nonprofit ministry dedicated to teaching principles of God’s Word and assisting the church in ministering to unreached, unfed, unborn, uneducated, unreconciled, and unsupported people around the world. A New York Times bestselling author of over 50 books, including Heaven, The Treasure Principle, If God Is Good, Happiness, and the award-winning novel Safely Home, his books sold exceed eleven million copies and have been translated into over seventy languages. Randy resides in Oregon with his wife, Nanci.
According to Alcorn (The Treasure Principle; Deadline; Safely Home), the subject of heaven rates as one of the least accurately discussed subjects in the whole of Christendom. Even seminarians fail to give appropriate time and attention to heaven as described throughout the Bible because other themes take pre-eminence both chronologically and preferentially. Alcorn is likewise astounded that the majority of Christians who do take time to consider heaven often possess faulty, nonbiblical assumptions, one of the most common being the misconception of heaven as a place of unending church services. The author, who is also the founder of the nonprofit organization Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM), has spent years studying what the Bible says about heaven, and in this compelling and comprehensive resource, he offers every conceivable question about heaven, or the "New Earth," as a Christian believer's ultimate destination. Alcorn answers the expected queries on heavenly life as well as quirkier ones: will Christians drink coffee in heaven? Will there be homeownership, and what about sex? Will our pets be in heaven? Evangelical scholars and laypersons alike will appreciate Alcorn's expansive though perhaps long-winded musings on this neglected subject, a real boon in a time when many people are eager to understand what happens after death.
This book is Amazing ! Very well written and completely Grounded in Gods Word!! Highly recommend
One of my Favorite Books
I really, really like this book and highly recommend it. As the title indicates, it's all about Heaven. You need to have an open mind, and you should read it from start to finish. I bounced around through different parts of the book, but went back and read it the right way. I normally don't skip portions of a book, but it's difficult with this book. My curiousity got the better of me, and I first skipped chunks of the New Earth theology section. This 500 pager with tiny font offers answers to a number of topics including work, our bodies, relationships, animals, and so much more. Do I agree with everything Randy says? No, but he has a very convincing argument backed by his interpretation of the Word. It certainly makes me think. What I really enjoy about this book though is that it makes me smile and gets me excited about my future home. I can imagine.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
I thought it was fantastic, a lot of it was Alcorn's interpretation, but I liked his thoughts. Read it and form your own interpretation. Either way you will see heaven from a different prospective!
