Publisher Description
My blunder puts the local pastor at risk of losing his job. The least I can do is help clean up the mess . . . by marrying him.
Still single at 50, I'm in shock that a dropped batch of lemon bars leads to a marriage proposal. Which is great and all except for the fact that it's for show.
I'm a plump, middle-aged woman with a talent for cooking and baking, not anyone's idea of a wife. But Mad Dog needs me to marry him to suppress a scandal.
Maybe now I can figure out how he got that nickname.
My life won't change much. He'll live in my guest room, and I'll feed him delicious food and yummy desserts. And maybe do his laundry.
But then shortly after the wedding, he asks me out on a date. What have I gotten myself into?
Customer Reviews
Humorous
A wonderful story with plenty of humor. I loved their interactions which were delightful to read. I chose to read this book based on the intriguing blurb and it was absolutely a blast to read. Nicely done.
I requested a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Helped by Ava
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
The story is written in my favorite dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into a character's thoughts really help me to better understand and connect with the characters. For some reason, though, I had a hard time connecting to either character. It isn't because the characters weren't realistic (they totally were especially Ava) but it just didn't resonate with me. For some reason, that I can't explain, I struggled to finish it.
The story is a good one. It is a clean romance with just kissing and everything else is behind closed doors. I am giving it 4 stars because again, it is a good story.
Sweet romance
Poor Ava. She was so kind and helpful to everyone around her but people were so hurtful to her. Mad dog was the perfect match for her. He wasn’t arrogant or overconfident and was exactly what Ava needed with her timid nature. Another great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book.
