This is a second chance romance story about Iain Mackenzie who had his heart ripped from his chest. It was because his love Glynnis MacLachlan listens to her father and marries a stranger for due to Iain Mackenzie Cameron’s illegitimacy.

It is three years later and Glynnis has returned since her husband has died and she miscarries for the third and final time. Now the tables have turned as Iain in now the Cheiftain’s heir and a warrior and the new Tanist for the Cameron clan. He also has been promised a royal betrothal with a Welsh cousin of the king. This will make their clan more powerful and respected. As the tanist, Iain needs a bride that can produce heirs and that is something Glynnis cannot do unfortunately, even though they are now equal in class. As she has been told by midwives that her body is too damaged from her previous miscarriages and loss to be able to ever conceive again.

The problem is Iain is still madly in love with Glynnis that some call his weakness. Besides that Glynnis’s father will still look for another clan alianance and nobleman to marry his daughter since she never produced any heirs from her previous marriage. So she basically has no home which is why her Godmother Elizabeth took her under her wing to help heal. Glynnis after relieving such a shock with so much death in her family had been very ill and needed to heal.

Of course when Glynnis and Iain when they both see each other again all their feelings from three years ago resurfaces. As they are like a moth to a flame. Yet they both know the promises they made and must separate once again and marry someone they both will never love.

Glynnis asks for one thing for Iain and that is one night before they go their separate ways. As they are both honorable people and will keep to their previous commitments with is heartbreaking itself. She ask for one night where they can love each other and keep the memory forever. Yet will it be enough? Read and find out in another extraordinary Terri Brisbin book!

This is an author I have been reading for many years and she always sweeps me away no matter if it is a Scottish historical, Viking romance, regency or paranormal. Her stories are always gripping, action packed, fast paced and passionate with swoon worthy heroes and sassy heroines you can’t help but love!

I loved both characters in this story and had so much empathy for both wondering how they would ever accomplish a happily ever after. Without spoiling this I definitely highly recommend this book, it is definitely a phenomenal book not to be missed. I have loved and read every book in this series which I highly recommend. Yet you can read any as a stand alone book too.

Loved Iian’s character and while Glynnis was his weakness, I had a hard time relating to her.
