This novel is a Military Romantic Suspense novel that will you will not want to put down. Two recently retired warriors, along with team members, called out to help find a young Senator's daughter that has been kidnapped. A team of crack FBI agents have tried and failed, paying with their lives.
U.S.M.C. Viper Helo pilot Captain (retired) Kacey O'Donnell is hiding out in her family home in Winterpine, New Hampshire. She's trying to overcome her panic attacks, horrific nightmares and the sudden death of her parents. She doesn't know what she's going to do with the rest of her life, right now she is just trying to sleep and occasionally eat. The one thing she doesn't want to forget is a Navy SEAL. They had grabbed moments with each other every chance they could get. They were crazy passionate moments and she regrets not being able to say goodby. She only hopes he's alive somewhere.
SEAL Captain (retired) Nathan Weatherly is on a search for the one woman he can't get out of his mind. He and several teammates (also retired) returned to the states for some down time before deciding their next step in life. Nathan made a quick trip to see his parents, grabbed his pride and joy car, and headed to New Hampshire. A former medic on his team, Jonah, is now the town Doctor in Winterpine. He's been keeping tabs on Kacey for him. Their first meeting is electric, despite sarcasm and insults and before they can take a deep breath, they are in bed together. Nathan has applied for the job of Sheriff, wants to live here, love here, and raise a family. One problem, Kacey is so not on the same page with him. She wants to lick her wounds, fight her nightmares and live alone. Their reunion is postponed when family friend FBI Agent John Cannon calls Kacey and is in desperate need of her Helo skills, and is even more thrilled to find out Nathan and his former team are ready and available. It's a child kidnapping, no one would ever refuse.
This is an edge of your seat story, with twists and turns, secrets and lies. Kacey is wounded, fighting her feelings for Nathan and battling PTSD she is trying not to acknowledge. We see how veterans scarred from war, come home to a whole new conflict, trying to live.
