At thirty, he figured he had a few more good years left in him, but when family responsibilities call, he leaves the familiar to move back to Hope City. After years of missions and living in close quarters with his team, he is looking forward to a little peace and quiet. Now, if the two irrepressible kids from next door could just understand that.

Violet Mayfield is doing the best she can… uninteresting job with a lech for a boss and a townhouse that is in constant need of repairs. A widow, her joy comes from her two children. As far as she is concerned, their little trio family is all she needs.

Charlie and Lily Mayfield knew their mom was lonely. And they'd met the new neighbor. He was funny, grilled great hamburgers, and had a dog. Forever Family

Ben Popovich, a recently retired Navy Seal, heads home to Hope City. He’s not sure what he’s destined to do, but knows he needs to be home to help his grandma. After losing his parents as a young child, family is everything to Ben. When his grandma has health issues, he decides it’s time to go home. Once home, he’s relieved to find his grandma in better health than he feared. But his grandma has decided it’s time to sell her townhouse and move into something a little more manageable. Ben decides to use his time to help his grandma with updating and construction repairs in order to get the house ready to sell. When he was young, Ben “worked” alongside his grandpa to remodel two townhouses into one bigger townhouse. He learned his skills from his grandpa. While remodeling, Ben is constantly interrupted by the two young children next door. Ben doesn’t have a lot of experience with children and their constant questions. So he tries his best to be kind and make sure they stay safe while getting his work done. When he sees their mom, he’s immediately drawn to her and wants to know more.

Violet Mayfield, a recent Hope City transplant, is doing her best to be everything for her children since their father died tragically. Every once in awhile, she is required to stay late at work and Ms. Popovich watches her children. She hates that she has to depend on someone else, but really needs to keep her job. She’s almost finished with her degree and hopes to find a job where she can use her actual bookkeeping, business skills. Most importantly, a job where she won’t have to constantly dodge her boss’s inappropriate behavior. Through her children, Violet is introduced to Ben...

Ben is not looking for a family or a relationship. Violet’s main focus is on earning her degree, finding another job, and being the best mom she can be. But fate, two young children, and a sneaky grandma help convince Ben and Violet to open themselves up to the possibility of becoming a forever family. The sneaky antics of the kids and grandma were hilarious. I enjoyed the bit of mystery, case not solved from a previous Hope City novel, and suspense. If you enjoy kids, a rescue dog, and a sneaky grandma....you’ll absolutely LOVE this novel. Very enjoyable stand alone. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Being There

Ben is a former Navy SEAL.  After multiple injuries and surgeries to the same knee, he realizes that he soon will no longer be able to keep up with his team so he must make a decision about his future.  When his beloved grandmother, who raised him, calls to say that she has had a stroke and needs a bit if help, his decision is easy.  It's time to go home and care for the woman who raised him to be the man he is today.  Violet is a single mom of two very active curious kids.  She happens to live next door to Ben's grandmother.  While Ben is fixing up his grandmother's house, Violet's kids are getting to know him and Ben is getting an education on what kids can be like.  The kids loving the idea of a forever dad, make sure their mother and Ben have plenty of time together to get to know one another.  Problem is, Ben is a loner and doesn't do relationships.  Violet has been hurt and burned and does not trust easily.  Can these two, along with the kid's and grandmother's help, allow their hearts to open?

This is such a wonderful heartwarming and a bit steamy story.  Oh my, I laughed and cried along with the characters in this book.  When an author can wrap you up in a story and take you away to another place while making you feel all the feels in the book, that is the sign of an amazing book and author.  I could not put this book down.  It was also one that I did not want to end.  I love Ben's protective side.  Even if he doesn't consider himself relationship material, he still does all he can to help and protect the little family next door.  I think my favorite character in the book is Ben's grandmother.  She is the type of grandmother everyone wants to have who loves to back and has a huge heart.  If you like stories about finding love, realizing your worth, mending past hurt, protecting the ones you love, and a bit of suspense thrown in, then this book is for you.  I definitely recommend this book and any book written by Jordan.

I received a review copy of this book from the author.  I was not required to leave a positive review.  I am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
