In New York Times bestselling author Karen Robards’s latest heart-pounding thriller, a woman must uncover a murderer—or risk being the next victim of a vicious killer.
When Riley Cowan finds her estranged husband Jeff dead in his palatial home, she’s sure it’s no coincidence. The police rule it a suicide, but Riley thinks someone’s out for blood—specifically someone Jeff’s father ripped off in one of the biggest financial fraud cases of all time. She suspects that someone is trying to send a message to Jeff’s father: Tell me where the money is, or everyone you care about will die.
Enter Finn Bradley, an FBI agent with a dangerous secret. He's after the money too, and Riley quickly becomes his chief suspect. But when someone tries to kill her, he has no choice but to protect her until he can uncover the truth. The question becomes, can they discover the killer’s identity in time, before he resurfaces—and strikes again?
Dubbed an “exceptional storyteller” by the Chicago Tribune and “one of the most popular voices in women’s fiction” by Newsweek, Karen Robards’s latest action-packed novel will keep you glued to the pages until the final, shocking conclusion.
A hardened FBI agent is irresistibly drawn to Riley Cowan, the heroine of this intoxicating blend of romantic suspense and mystery from bestseller Robards (Guilty). Riley Cowan, who grew up poor on Philadelphia's North Side, is acutely aware of the responsibility to her ex-husband Jeff's mother and sister, who are impoverished following the imprisonment of her former father-in-law, George Cowan, convicted of illegal investment schemes. But when Jeff is found hanging from the living room ceiling in the family's empty Houston mansion, evidently a suicide, and Riley is attacked by an unknown assailant, she must turn to FBI agent Finn Bradley for help. While Finn knows that he can keep Riley safe, he believes that she's being less than truthful with him and knows that protecting her will be difficult without her complete honesty. Meanwhile, neither Finn nor Riley can deny their intense mutual physical attraction. Robards keeps the reader guessing until the explosive conclusion.

Quick but good
Quick but entertaining book. Not hard to figure out ending but like the characters a lot. Will read more from this author.
Repetitive. Similar to a 1000 other books
Avid book reader
Okay my thoughts about this book it was good, without giving any details away for the next reader I don't think you will be disappointed in choosing this particular book to read. I was not shocked at the end it was kind of predictable! I think the author could have left some of the details out it was sort of dry and certain parts! But overall it was a good story to read that's why in my opinion it only merits four stars!
