“A perfectly delightful love story. This magical read is a keeper.” —RT Book Reviews, Top Pick, 4 _ stars for The Rogue You Know
Once she spurned the man…
When the Duke of Lennox hires Sir Brook Derring, England’s best investigator, to find his daughter, Brook intends only to rescue the lady and return to his solitary life. He deals with London’s roughest criminals every day of the week; surely he should be able to endure seeing his first love again—the perfect girl who broke his heart...
Now her life depends on him
Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox has always done her best to live up to her father’s standards of perfection—at the cost of following her heart. When she’s kidnapped and her perfect life is shattered, Lila has another chance. Together, Lila and Brook navigate not only the dark and deadly side of London, but the chasm of pride and prejudice that divides them.
It's a madcap adventure through London and the surrounding countryside as Sir Brook Derring protects Lady Lillian-Anne from assassins and kidnappers in Galen's fourth entry into the Covent Garden Cubs series (following The Rogue You Know). Brook was devastated years ago when Lila threw his marriage proposal back in his face. The last thing he wants is to be Lila's defender, but can't refuse an order from the nobility. Lila falls for Brook very quickly; however, she recognizes that until he can forgive her and see that she's not the selfish, spoiled girl he once knew, their relationship has no future. Brook nurtures his old anger even as he introduces Lila to lovemaking, who holds up admirably well under the threats to her life. Brook's petulance is frustrating, because all the elements of a charming love story are present: whispered confidences, taking care of each other, and fiery love scenes. This Regency-era romance is all about second chances, making amends, and giving love a chance, but it does require a fair bit of patience.
A kiss and an adventure
This was a fun read. The storyline was great, there was romance and mystery and a great supporting cast
Now this is the way a good author writes a great series!
This is the last book in the series and the first one I have read. Now this is the way a good author writes a great series! While reading "I Kissed A Rogue", I did not feel as if there were pieces of the story missing because I had not read previous books. I enjoy a great Regency Historical Romance and Shana Galen delivered that in her wonderful writing of the characters. Brook, unable to get over old wounds, shows just how much of a rogue he can be but still be a hero. Lila, on the other hand was such a fun character and snob, she made me laugh at some of her antics. I highly recommend this read if you love a great fun historical romance. I now look forward to going back and reading books one and two of this series. ***Thank You to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for gifting me with an ARC of "I Kissed A Rogue" and only asking for an honest review.*** 4.5 Stars!
Shana Galen knows how to end a series on a high note! I Kissed A Rogue is the third and final book in the Covenant Garden Cubs series and she saved the best for last. Sir Brook Derring is asked to do the impossible find and protect the only woman he’s ever loved, except now he kind of hates her. Lila once was a spoiled ton diamond who cared only for herself, but now she’s changed and wants to find a place of her own where she can find peace. She never expected to need Brook and she certainly never planned to fall in love with him, especially now that he kind of hates her…or does he? Galen is getting better with every book as she seamlessly creates stories full of wit, intrigue, and heart. I can’t wait to see what she does next…maybe a novella for a certain valet ;)
