I Remember Atlantis

A diadem with a crystal at the brow that answers questions instantly, the way a search engine does. A factory turning out metal plates whose alloy is quietly changed whenever the planet is retuned. A funeral device that draws the life out of a body in minutes.

The middle volume of this account is where Atlantis becomes technological, and where its narrator starts to notice that nobody is telling ordinary people anything any more.
