The Massacre is supposed to bring peace to Eriana Kwai, an island in the North Pacific. Every year, they send warriors to battle the mermaids that are driving them into poverty. Every year, the warriors fail to return. Desperate for survival, they must decide on a new strategy. Now, the fate of Eriana Kwai lies in the hands of twenty battle-trained girls and their resistance to a mermaid's allure.
Eighteen-year-old Meela has already lost her brother to the Massacre, and she has lived with a secret that's haunted her since childhood: a mermaid by the name of Lysi. When she reunites with Lysi in battle, her worst nightmare comes true. She must decide between fighting for the mermaid she loves and becoming the ruthless killer her people trained her to be.

Im not usually one to read lesbian books, despite my preferences. But Ice Massacre was one that caught my eye. Its unique and the plot was very intriguing. Meela was a relatable main character with her own flaws. And I really liked how the author developed Dani over the time of the massacre. Cant wait to see more of Meela and Lysi in the second book and I would definitely suggest this book to any passionate LGBT readers, or even to a new reader!
The story is thrilling to read keeping me engaged to the very end. This world that’s described is detailed and beautiful giving that much more depth to the story and characters as they fight their way to freedom. Time for the second book!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and immediately bought the sequel.
Love the struggle between fighting to survive in a war or losing compassion to just become killing machine.
The mermaids are vicious! Interesting dynamics of teen girls stuck on a boat! Star-crossed lovers! It’s got it all.
