Tia Felding was going to lose her dragon, Misty. Not only did the rare animal belong to the king, but Misty was sentenced to return to the man who hatched her: a man who has separated Tia from a dragon before. It takes all of Tia's strength to keep her head up inside the hostile atmosphere especially since her classmates think she has inherited a disease to attack the very animals they all love. Tia is determined to not fall down, but that's easier said than done when other people want to claim her dragon and threaten Tia's very life.

With evil magic already in the land, Jack Brixton refuses to bow to the man that has sentenced his friends and family to a life of slavery that he has already escaped. Jack has taken on the mission to locate the lost prince to stand up to the fake king while he encourages Tia to survive her insane workload. 

By trying to defend her dragon, Tia's secret mental ability is on the brink of being discovered as are Jack's renegade roots. Ending up in the wrong camp could be disastrous for either of them especially since all dragons have fangs and all renegades know how to bite.
