Hot Scheming Mess

Madison Cruz is an actress, trying to make a living in Seattle. Well, she wants to be an actress, but all she seems to be getting are singing telegram gigs. But a girl’s gotta pay the bills, so she does what she has to. Even if it puts even more strain on her already less than close relationship with her FBI agent mother. Now, her grandpa is in some sort of trouble, and he gives Madison a confusing set of old papers and photographs, telling her to keep them safe until he comes for them. And then, he disappears. There are mysterious people who desperately want to get their hands on grandpa’s papers, and Madison is left trying to puzzle it out, along with attempting to reach out to her mother and trying to choose between the two handsome guys vying for her attention.

This was a fun read! I don’t usually read romances, but I do like humor and mystery, so I decided to give it a try. And I was not disappointed. The romance was really a small part of the story, with the mystery taking center stage. It’s a good puzzle and had me guessing in more than one spot. The humor is almost non-stop, but not over the top.

Characters are mostly interesting, although the cast is a bit large, and I found myself confused at times, trying to keep them all straight. Madison herself is wacky and weird, and definitely in over her head with grandpa’s secret, but she pulls through in her own madcap style.

Lots of humor, mystery, intrigue and a fast paced story make this a delightful book to read. Thankfully, she already has another book out because I had to quickly download it to find out what happens next in Madison Cruz's life!

Excellent book! My first exposure to Lucy Carol certainly won't be my last!
