Mystery set in Poland
This polish mystery starts off with descriptions of the architectural and historic features of a reputedly lovely land.
Our detective is in a sister city, Philadelphia to where the tale of murder and intrigue is set in Poland. He is posted to the Polish city in a delegation for trade and travel where his services are intrigued by the supposed suicide of a young woman who shares his surname and turns out to be the daughter of a cousin of his native to the area. He is of Polish extraction so meeting relative is in his itinerary anyway, I just think he wanted to meet them alive! It was a good well paced mystery in a unique location, worth the read.
Past and present
Pressed into service on a sister city delegation to Poland, a Philadelphia cop of Polish descent helps to discover the murderer of his niece while aiding his cousin, an investigative journalist in Warsaw. The author did a good job in describing the setting of post-WWII Poland to the present in its struggles to reconcile its Communist past and advance toward a budding democracy.
Absolutely Absorbing!
