Interesting
Very interesting.
The humanization of the legend
Growing up as an admirer of Davy Crockett, my thoughts and “facts” concerning him were largely based on portrayals of screen and song.
The reader of this book will find some interesting information that will elicit thoughts of what screen and song have to say about the man known as Davy Crockett. For myself, I have little reason to doubt much over exaggeration from the man himself in this autobiography. This account will offer those interested in Davy Crockett a somewhat pleasant reprieve from legend and reveal a more authentic version of their hero.
The book is honest, written in the author’s unique style and perspective on the accounts of his life and I believe was contemporary readers we would do well to understand what he had to say from his perspective, reserving our personal judgments and understanding for another time. I believe anyone interested in who DAVID Crockett actually was and did will find this account both revealing, in some cases affirming, and well worth their consideration and time.
Great
A fascinating look at early United States history and life on the frontier. Crockett was much more intelligent and insightful than I had ever thought.
