Publisher Description

As a leader in teaching, training, and transforming boys in Detroit, Jason Wilson shares his own story of discovering what it means to “be a man” in this life-changing memoir.

His grandfather’s lynching in the deep South, the murders of his two older brothers, and his verbally harsh and absent father all worked together to form Jason Wilson’s childhood. But it was his decision to acknowledge his emotions and yield to God’s call on his life that made Wilson the man and leader he is today.

As the founder of one of the country’s most esteemed youth organizations, Wilson has decades of experience in strengthening the physical, mental, and emotional spirit of boys and men. In Cry Like a Man, Wilson explains the dangers men face in our culture’s definition of “masculinity” and gives readers hope that healing is possible.

As Wilson writes, “My passion is to help boys and men find strength to become courageously transparent about their own brokenness as I shed light on the symptoms and causes of childhood trauma and ‘father wounds.’ I long to see men free themselves from emotional incarceration—to see their minds renewed, souls weaned, and relationships restored.”

Great Book

It’s nice to see one overcome obstacles while understanding the world doesn’t set the standard of what a man is, but Jesus molds the real man.

Fathers Are So Important

In a world where men are being emasculated or told it’s okay to wear a dress, it’s so refreshing to see a real man speak so candidly about what a real man is. I really enjoyed the entire book. If I had to choose a favorite part of Mr. Wilson’s story is where he and his wife Nicole put in that extra effort and submission to keep there marriage and family intact with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit and those who Almighty God would place in their lives on that journey of brokenness and submission. It was my son who is currently incarcerated who told me about this book and it has had a profound impact on him. I pray that men, women, young men, young women, boys and girls, mothers and fathers, single and married everywhere on every continent could read this book. This book should be read in our schools and churches.

Best Decision I’ve Ever Made.

Once I began reading, it was no stopping. This book is filled with so many gems that at times I would repeatedly read over and over again before moving on. Extraordinary piece of work.
