Mindfulness In Plain English
I realize that this sounds trite but this book virtually changed my life. As an introduction to meditation,
it is clear and straightforward. But do not delude yourself, meditation is not easy. It takes discipline and determination, the results can be profound. In my case I had the determination, I am not saying that I am better than anyone else, no on the contrary I am equal and that is all. Because of this book and teachers I have finally attained a level of peace and well being that I never knew existed.
I would never buy an iBook on this subject. I needed to have a hard copy. I cannot speak ffor anyone but myself. This is a fantastic book, it can be a life changing volume, it was for me. If you are reading this, obtain this book in whatever format suits you but get it and practice it.
Fantastic! Not a walk in the park, certainly but the rewards can be transcendent.

I loved this book, and have begun my own meditation practice. It's thorough and reliable.
Too much unnecessary information
In my humble opinion, this book is way too complicated.
Mindfulness starts with a meditation practice. Meditation is simple. Sit upright in a chair or on the edge of your bed, eyes open or closed. Focus on your breath. Every time your mind wonders, bring your attention back to your breath. Do this over and over again and again. Meditate everyday for 10 to 30 minutes. Many times your mind will wonder the entire time, especially for the first year. It still counts as meditation. It’s almost impossible not to meditate correctly.
Meditation rewires your brain. The benefits are enormous and numerous (google it). It is life changing. Realize that the benefits are very slow and gradual but well worth it. The benefits continue to grow every few months, year and decade. For weeks or months it may feel like nothing is improving as your mind works through problems. Some days your mind will wonder less while other days it will be scattered. All this is normal. Work on mindfulness throughout the day, but don’t try too hard. A meditation practice will naturally improve your mindfulness. This is all you need to know.
I have been meditating for 5 years. The benefits have been extraordinary. My life has been improved by a factor of 10. I laugh more than ever.
I was hoping to recommend this book to others who are new to meditation. Unfortunately, I think it is too complicated. Meditation is not hard.
