I'm Here All Week

At age 26, James Kotecki had already enjoyed a varied career as a writer, stand-up comedian and house painter's assistant. There were still, however, many things he had not done. He had not visited a strip club (and learned the mysteries of the "double stuffed Oreo"). He had not been propositioned by a prostitute  at a Politico party. He had not smoked weed with Glenn Beck's former radio co-host. He had not been judged by Occupy protesters or died on his ass performing stand-up comedy in a free speech zone.


And then James' took a reporting gig with a publication called NSFWCORP, edited by infamous whoremongering journalistic scourge, Mark Ames. With a sadist's glee, Ames sent James on the road to the 2012 political conventions in Tampa and Charlotte. His mission: to stay well away from the conventions themselves and instead to creep unseen into the parties, the hotel suites and whatever other seedy hellholes the attendees end up in after hours and, to paraphrase Hawthorne, "show freely to the world, if not their worst, then some trait whereby the worst may be discerned."


What lies between these covers are James' dispatches from Florida and North Carolina, including sheafs of unpublished material and the private email correspondence between James' editors as they conspire to send him deeper and deeper into madness.
