J.S. Bach: 15 Two Part Inventions... Ken Hummer // Superb transcription

I bought the hard copy version of this when it came out years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The transcriptions & adaptations are very accurate and allow for great performance pieces. For the intermediate to advanced guitarist wanting to expand their understanding of the guitar, counterpoint and seriously challenge both right & left hand technique... this is a great source. It is one of those books that will never be far from your music stand. A great primer for more even more adventurous contrapuntal guitar literature such as the Goldberg Variations & yes... there is a monumentally great transcription for the Variations, & in feel this is on par as well. There is one other transcription as hard copy by another publisher, however after multiple readings I found to be not as elegant as Mr. Hummers. Great source for duet playing with two guitars or guitar and bass. The ultimate challenge to your technique and phrasing. Reading them down is one thing... making them sing... a lifelong pursuit.

Listening to piano versions of the inventions played by masters, for an extended period of time Gould, Schiff, whomever... but get them in your ear if unfamiliar with them, then tackle the transcriptions here. Ton of fun... and highly profitable use of your study/enjoyment time.

A great piece of literature... Mr. Hummer has given the guitar global community a great gift here.
