Publisher Description
Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale defend the absolute claims of Christ against modern belief in the "secular gods" of atheism, scientism, relativism, and more.
The rise of these secular gods presents the most serious challenge to the absolute claims of Christ since the founding of Christianity itself. The Christian worldview has not only been devalued and dismissed by modern culture, but its believers are openly ridiculed as irrelevant. In Jesus Among Secular Gods, Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale challenge the popular "isms" of the day, skillfully pointing out the fallacies in their claims and presenting compelling evidence for revealed absolute truth as found in Jesus. This book is fresh, insightful, and important, and faces head on today's most urgent challenges to Christian faith. It will help seekers to explore the claims of Christ and will provide Christians with the knowledge to articulate why they believe that Jesus stands tall above all other gods.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this engrossing and enlightening work, Zacharias and Vitale deliver a spirited defense of the Christian faith in the face of what they view as adamant opposition from every quarter. Taking on famous skeptics such as Richard Dawkins, the authors present rational and convincing arguments for faith in a world filled with doubt. Looking at such ideologies as atheism, hedonism, humanism, and relativism, they deftly and honestly define each of these viewpoints and then show how divinity can pierce the veil of questioning and deliver a certain answer that satisfies the quest for a rational, believable faith. The necessity for divine intervention is summed up nicely when Vitale affirms that "only a God who reveals Himself can save us from arrogance about the most important questions of life." Absent this revelation, the authors insist, seekers must depend on their own abilities to sort through the confusions of life; only God can bring clarity. This is a wonderful collection of essays, worthy of wide readership.

Did God Say
The pace is set in the first chapter when Ravi Zacharias stated that there are two questions from the beginning of time that "determine the future: 1)Did God say? 2) Do you really think you're going to die or can you become like God, determining good and evil?" The title in itself points to the fact that mankind has tried to kill God and set itself up as god. What ever we believe boils down into a faith of some kind. Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale delve into the faiths of humankind.
This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to understand where secular society meets and diverges from our Christian faith.
