#1 USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks continues her suspenseful and sizzling Slow Burn series with the fifth book featuring the men and women of Devereaux Security Services.

Raised in a strict religious cult since she was a young girl, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal—and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cult's bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman…or so they think. In truth, she is merely biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.

When a terrified young woman tries to steal the SUV of Devereaux Security’s toughest recruit, Isaac’s anger quickly turns into a strange sort of protectiveness for the beautiful, bruised stranger. But when they are caught in a firestorm of bullets and Isaac is hit, he’s sure the end is near, until Jenna touches him and closes his wounds. As he tries to bring Jenna to safety, she refuses to tell him what danger haunts her or how she healed him, but Isaac vows to do whatever it takes to gain her trust…and her heart. Because with just one touch, Isaac knows he wants Jenna to be his—forever.

Not my favorite Maya Banks

I have read every book by Maya Banks offered by iBooks and kindle. This one is the only one where I got bored with the WAY too gushing main characters. The other point that didn't make much sense was the female main character is supposed to have been in a cult for 20 years and denied basics but in most areas is somewhat worldly? When she was kidnapped at age 4?

Disappointing

I have always loved Mays's books, but this one was subpar to say the least. Be prepared for a man to fall in love with a woman and lose all sense of his manliness, turning in to a pathetic, whiny, sap, in the matter of 24 hours. I literally skipped entire pages in every single chapter because it was insanely repetitive. I will say I enjoyed the story line, but I think Maya may have repeated herself as filler to make this a longer book. There are only so many times I could take the main characters word vomiting to each other and professing their undying love....after only a few days.

Ridiculously repetitive

I was excited to read this book until I actually started reading it. It was not what I was expecting. Boring, repetitive, predictable and quite frankly the lead male role was very disappointing. He was so clingy, needy and not at all "male". He sounded like a whiny teenage girl with a first boyfriend. Ridiculous!!! To be honest, I skipped over several pages in each chapter because they were the same thing every time. The male lead whining about how much he loves this woman he just met and how he would just die if he couldn't hold her in his arms. Seriously. Every freaking chapter.
