Publisher Description
The incredible finale of the page-turning, high-octane Sandman Slim series filled with an explosive ending and intense kick-ass action from New York Times bestselling author Richard Kadrey.
It’s been three months since Stark stopped a death cult and a potential ghost apocalypse, and he’s at loose ends. His personal life is a mess. His professional life isn’t much better. And the world…well, the world is going to shit. L.A. is gripped by a viral epidemic that has everyone wearing masks and keeping their distance from each other. But what’s even more frightening is the Shoggot gang and their leader, King Bullet, who revels in the city’s collapse.
Who is King Bullet? No one knows. He seemingly came from nowhere with nothing but a taste for mayhem and an army of crazed killers who follow his every command. What king wants seems simple on it face: Chaos. Destruction. A city in flames. But there’s more to the king and his plans for L.A. and what Stark discovers will change Heaven, Earth, and Stark himself forever.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Kadrey concludes his bestselling Sandman Slim series (after Ballistic Kiss) with a knockdown magical slugfest between antihero James Stark and the mysterious King Bullet. Stark and his close-knit group of friends and allies are living through a viral epidemic that has stricken Los Angeles, leaving many dead and others deranged, suffering from autophagia and extreme violent tendencies. Some of these plague victims pledge themselves to King Bullet, attacking Stark and his friends Fuck Hollywood (so named because of the T-shirt she was wearing when she first met Stark) and Carlos, the bartender of the Bamboo House of Dolls. Thomas Abbot, the leader of the Sub Rosa council of magicians, repeatedly pits Stark against King Bullet and his Shoggot thugs—fights that Stark loses, forcing him to doubt Abbot's help and to seek other, even more powerful backup. Kadrey doesn't shy away from the horror of pain and madness here, nor does he spare Stark's companions, so much so that he begins with a trigger warning. The result is a phenomenal finale to Sandman Slim's saga, perfect for Dresden Files fans who want their hero to be even more damaged.

Sandman Slim gone?
This is a great series! Second read through of the series. I’m going to miss Sandman Slim
Woke
Unlike the the rest of this series the finale went woke. It’s a constant lecture about using the right pronoun despite the fact that sandman for 11 books didn’t care about being politically correct or even polite.
The story was more formulaic than the prior books so rather than going out strong the series ended with a whimper. Why? It’s almost as though a ghost writer wrote the final book.
Without a doubt the least enjoyable book of the series.
I really enjoyed the rest of the series but I cannot recommend the last book.
Great book. Great series.
I hope that wasn’t really the end. Just a pause.
