Customer Reviews
OK in a pinch, but I’m done
Like previous installments, there are some elements of a good story here, and it’s an OK read on a rainy day. However, the book suffers even more from the weaknesses of its predecessors. Poor editing, to the point of out and out grammar and spelling errors and serious continuity failures in the plot line. At times in action scenes the continuity errors are jarring and the plot gets lost; at other times things seem to come out of the blue. The shallow character development of previous books hits a new low, where all of the characters are as interchangeable as AI slop - the same jokes, the same voice, no independent motivations.
This was clearly the point in the series where the churn-out-copy-for-a-quick-buck became too annoying for me, and all the competent characters had too many moments where they did ridiculous things to advance a poorly developed plot. My journey has ended.
