Laura M. Schwartz v. Minneapolis Suburban

Two personal injury actions in the Hennepin County District Court arising out of a collision between an automobile owned and operated by David Schwartz and a bus, one against the bus company by Laura M. Schwartz, a passenger in the automobile; and one by Albert Schwartz and Hazel Schwartz, also passengers in the automobile, against said bus company and David Schwartz. The cases were tried together before William D. Gunn, Judge, and a jury, which returned verdicts for Laura M. Schwartz for $16,500; for Albert Schwartz for $12,000; and for Hazel Schwartz for $5,500. In the first action, two motions of the bus company for a new trial were denied, and the bus company appealed from both orders. In the second action, the court granted a new trial unless plaintiffs consented to reductions of their verdicts to $10,500 and $4,500 respectively, which they did. The court also denied another motion of defendant bus company for a new trial and it appealed from both the orders.
